Keller Builders gets direct mill pricing for Shaw Carpets, which allows us to pass the savings to you. Direct from mill pricing allows us to offer you high end carpet for a low end cost. Shaw's Frieze Softbac carpet is a standard for all Keller Builder carpet installs, while other companies charge more for it, we charge you less.
Frieze carpet is a highly twisted cut pile carpet suited for high traffic areas. It has short fibers that tend to curl in different directions at the surface to hide footprints and vacuum marks. One of the most popular styles, comes in wool and man made fibers. Variously described as "Hardtwist" the yarn has been given an extra turn or two and this results in a rougher surface texture which is less prone to showing footmarks. The soft plush feel not only cushions the walk, but also acts as insulators and helps regulate room temperature which will inevitably reduce your energy bills.
Shaw Industries introduced regular "SoftBac" in 1998 and the product has been a huge success. SoftBac virtually eliminates damage done to woodwork in the home by preventing scratches and scuffing. SoftBac provides up to three times the delaminating strength of ordinary plastic backings. SoftBac makes carpet feel better, even over lighter pads. Seams look better, as seam peaking is rare with SoftBac. Carpets made with SoftBac "feel" better to the touch. SoftBac provides more noise reduction and insulation.
Since its introduction in 1997, SoftBac has proven itself superior across the board. In consumer tests, carpets backed with SoftBac were consistently found to be more comfortable than comparative products, regardless of the padding used.

Since SoftBac protects the carpet fiber from excessive heat transfer during the application of the backing, shrinkage is minimized--creating a noticeable improvement in the carpet's appearance.
